The 1st Regiment Infantry inducted into Federal service in Philadelphia.

1942

February 17

Regiment broken up and had its elements reorganized and redesignated as follows:


  • Regiment (less 2d Battalion) as the 103d Engineer Battalion, an element of the 28th Infantry Division
  • 2d Battalion as the 180th Engineer Battalion and relieved from assignment to the 28th Infantry Division (hereafter separate lineage)

1943

MARCH 9

103d Engineer Battalion redesignated 9 March 1943 as the 103d Engineer Combat Battalion

1945

October 27

Inactivated at Camp Shelby, Mississippi

1947

April 8

Reorganized and Federally recognized in Philadelphia as the 103d Engineer Combat Battalion
